Vice President Kamala Harris finally broke her silence in the weeks after the presidential election with a brief video encouraging her supporters not to back down. The video was quickly shared across social media, leading many to comment on her seemingly disheveled appearance during her post-election remarks to disappointed voters.
After President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory, Vice President Harris sought to comfort her supporters, telling them, “I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you.” She continued, “You have the same power that you did before November 5th, the same purpose, and the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anyone or any circumstance take your power from you.”
Harris’ remarks sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many suggesting she was struggling to accept the election results. Author Bethany S. Mandel commented, “Honestly, I saw a lot of chatter about Kamala and alcohol over the last year and didn’t pay much mind, but… wow, yeah, she’s wasted.”
Mandel went on to argue that Harris and the Democrats had lost the trust of the American people. “I understand that whoever did this did it as revenge. But here’s what I take from it: She’s got a problem. And Democrats knew it and put her up anyway. Just like they knew that Biden had a problem and covered it up. They created a trust deficit that will take years to regain,” she said.
Trump adviser Tim Murtaugh seemed to suggest that the video was shared on X with the intent to harm. “Take some time to reflect on the fact that they posted this on purpose,” he remarked. Other users seized the opportunity to criticize the Democrats and the media for allegedly pushing propaganda against President-elect Trump, who they believe aimed to save the country.
One commenter shared their thoughts: “She’s right to tell her supporters this and remind them again. While I realize it is politically expedient, it’s also good for them to hear from their leader, as they shouldn’t feel so despondent after the election results. They should realize the media literally used propaganda, much of it untrue, to scare them into thinking the world would end if Trump won. The truth is, Trump came from the Democrats and has been middle-ground all along; he just wanted to preserve the country. Now, of course, we’ll have to see how it all plays out.”
Democrat mega-donor John Morgan commented on Vice President Harris’ political future, stating, “If you can’t run a campaign, you can’t run a country.” He went on to say, “She had all this money coming in. She had all these consultants, and if you don’t run the ads, you don’t get paid for the buy. They were running ads in Florida, where I live, nonstop.”
Morgan illustrated his doubt with the Harris campaign which he had from the get-go. “I told everybody, she should not have been the nominee. She was not going to win, and she didn’t win, and she lost badly…. So she’s having a call with donors this week, and they tell me about her political future. I don’t think she has a political future. So that’s my thought on her,” he said.
