Eva Longoria is clearing up the rumors surrounding her move out of the United States, revealing that it had nothing to do with President-elect Donald Trump or his election win.
The Desperate Housewives star, who now divides her time between Spain and Mexico, addressed the speculation during a recent appearance on The View: Behind the Table podcast. She told her friend Ana Navarro, “Will you please let them know I didn’t move out of the United States because of Trump? I’ve been in Europe for almost three years.”
Longoria explained that her decision to relocate her family—including her husband, José Bastón, and their 6-year-old son, Santiago—was driven by work opportunities, not politics. “I didn’t leave because of the political environment. I left because my work took me there,” she said.
Although the Texas native acknowledged that living abroad also meant stepping away from the “constant 24-hour news cycle,” she dismissed the idea that her move was a political statement, calling such speculation “divisive.” She added, “We can’t be that way right now.”
Longoria had previously mentioned in a Marie Claire interview published on November 13 that her move was influenced by changes in the entertainment industry, which were already underway long before the pandemic.
